Mesmer

Mesmer, hailing from Bucharest, Romania, has been involved in the ever growing breakbeat scene in Romania since 1996. His style is a tight blend of psychedelic, electro and funk induced sounds.

Mesmer first gained regional recognition in 1998 when he took home first prize in the Electronic Music Division of the New Talent Festival held by Assos Music, a national music competition.

Soon after, he began fielding requests to DJ at major festivals throughout the country. He also began expanding his reach into the production side of music and took to building his studio where he continues pounding out original works on a weekly basis.

Mesmer is a rising star in the breakbeat arena and one of the industry’s most prolific and industrious talents, cranking out tunes at a rate of knots in his home studio in Romania. His distinctive sound is attracting interest and praise from DJs, producers and breaks fans around the world. Sound of Habib label owner Johan Jariten Soh has many Mesmer tunes on release: “I picked up ‘Rowlacoaster’ because it was a break from what Mesmer is usually doing, and I'm into my vocal breaks. That's basically the reason for signing ‘Vibrations’ off him as well. Two great stand out cuts from a wicked and diverse producer".

Mexican producer Neztic is equally impressed: “Mesmer has a very interesting and unique sound, complemented to perfection with tight production and an excellent sense for catchy melodies. I hope we can hear more of his tunes released in the near future".

Mesmer is now recognised as being one of the breakbeat pioneers in Romania, managing to create his own recognisable style of a tight blend of psychedelic, electro and funk induced sounds.

Beta

London based breakbeat producer Beta started out Djing nuskool breaks and chunky house at the start of the decade and has since been entertaining crowds cross the globe using his own exclusive material, bootlegs and mashups.  In the studio he takes Influences from funk, drum and bass, house, indie and just about every style to create a unique individual sound.  Singles and remixes have gained support from the likes of Hybrid, General Midi, Future Funk Squad and DJ Icey featuring regularly on Beatport’s top 10.

Jariten

Jariten aka Johan Soh and a whole heap of other aliases including Invincible and Random Source has been in the electronic music scene since the early 90s. He started out DJing, promoting nights, doing radio and generally pushing the Swedish electronic scene especially for breaks and drum&bass. As a producer he started out slow and is still picking up pace. Even though the releases are few and far apart they have all received critical acclaim and some of them even cult status. He is also a stand out remixer, remixing for some of the electronic dance scene greats. As a DJ he has done a lot more, touring 4 continents and sharing the stage with big wigs like the Prodigy, Eric Prydz, Faithless, Plump DJs, Stanton Warriors, Freestylers, General Midi, DJ Krust, Roni Size and many many more. Oh and he also runs Sound of Habib...

Jurassik

Jurassik has been at the heart of the breakbeat scene for more than a decade, having run two Breakspoll nominated nights, in the shape of Cryonix and its London-based successor, Supatronix, and DJed all over the world, from Estonia to the deserts of Nevada. His production style follows the breakbeat blueprint but with an emphasis on fresh sounds: deep electro flavours, searing wobble bass and fearsome sampled percussion grooves make for a vibe that's bang on the 2010 button.

Karton

"Karton are fast becoming the new Hybrid. No scrub that, they're already there" - iDJ Magazine (January 2010)

As genres have risen only to fall, production duo Karton have developed and refined their own unique sound, which – while grounded by their love for all things breakbeat – is never limited by the constraints any single style of music provides. The variation in their production work and club sets illustrates that Karton don’t simply follow the crowd but rather craft a distinctive style as they continue to push their sound to new levels.

The duo have released numerous singles and remixes across the globe which have received club and radio support from the world’s top DJs and radio stations, including BBC Radio1, KissFM and Triple J. Karton have recently been nominated in the 'Breakthrough Producer' category for Breakspoll, the International Breakbeat Awards.

Karton’s first full-length studio album is now finished. Due to be released in the second half of 2010, ‘For All Seasons’ showcases the duo’s musical exploits for the dance floor and beyond.
